        EARL CUNNINGHAM (American, 1893-1977) A TROPICAL PARADISE.

        Unsigned oil on panel shows a land and seascape with tropical features. Two sections of land are separated by water thoroughfare. The right section of land has tall wide trunk trees and small evergreens, a few having colorful flowers. The ground is covered in high colorful grass and there is a brown, tan and black house with chimney. Four white egrets are seen along with three pink flamingos. There is a dock with figure, a boat on dry cradle, a man rowing a small rowboat and two ducks. The left section of land has similar trees with the addition of what appear to be palm trees. A longer house is seen with dock and man in rowboat. The background has brightly colored yellow/gold sky which reflects in far water and down the thoroughfare. Housed in a painted wood frame. SIZE: Sight: 15-3/4" x 23-3/4". PROVENANCE: Found in a New England home. CONDITION: Very good. 9-94195

        EARL CUNNINGHAM (American, 1893-1977) A SEASIDE FARM.

        Oil on fiberboard scene shows an expansive farm on the edge of an ocean with island in foreground. The farm has a large barn with fence area with figure herding cattle. A smaller house is seen beside a gate leading up the hillside to the farmers house which has smoke billowing from the chimney. A wagon is seen on this grassy area with two figures. The hillside is covered with multi-color grasses and bushes. A mustard colored sky with white birds, a flock of black birds and brown and black clouds. The water is a mustard/brown with black wash and supports five teeny single mast sailboats with colorful sails. Six red hooded ducks are seen swimming left to right. The island in dome shape with six triangular top green trees, some supporting a single branch with white birds. The red and white saltbox style house has two figures walking down a path toward dock with another figure and two sailboats. Three flowering trees complete the island. Signed lower left "Earl Cunningham". Housed in a flat molded edge wood frame. A fine example of Cunningham's work. SIZE: 16" x 24". PROVENANCE: Recently found in a New England home.         Outstanding folk art oil on masonite scene shows a large red roofed covered bridge spanning two green land masses and a line of wagons crossing. The foreground water has three red birch bark canoes with depictions of Native Americans with oars. Also two white hulled, white sailed schooners. The land masses have trees and flowers and there is one house with a dock with two men fishing. The background is in a mottled blue sky with two three-mast sailboats on the horizon. Oil on paper laid on corrugated cardboard scene shows a yellow ocean having a island with eight trees with connected foliage and birds. Houses are seen at each end with birds on log. A large white sailed schooner is seen beyond the trees all under a yellow and brown sky, supporting an orange sun. The foreground having two points of land connected by a long red roof covered bridge. On the left side a schooner is seen at dock and on the right side a house with covered porch, gazebo supporting a Gabriel blowing its horn weathervane. Signed lower left, "Earl Cunningham Mock Up". Housed in a modern black shadow box style frame with glass front and Lucite back to show pencil title and signature, "By Earl Cunningham". SIZE: Sight: 20"h x 40-1/4"w. PROVENANCE: Recently found in a New England home. CONDITION: Slice and hole losses to edges.  One side has folded over painted paper and losses in right house.  Appears to have been wet at one time, but generally intact. 9-93107 (2,000-3,000)

        EARL CUNNINGHAM (American, 1893-1977)"MOCK UP NO 2 1950". Oil on paper laid on corrugated cardboard scene shows two long red-roofed covered bridges spanning between the coast and two islands. The left land having nine large tropical flowering trees with two paths and one walking figure. The middle island having a grove of brown trees and the larger island having four houses, four large trees and one fallen tree. The fallen tree has two red platypus-type birds while two of the other trees support white birds. Four white-sailed schooners are seen on the horizon and one appears in foreground to be in dry dock. The sky is gold and brown and the water tints from aqua to brown. Signed center bottom, "By Earl Cunningham, 1950". Housed in a modern black shadow-box type frame with glass front and Lucite back with shows the title in pencil and "By Earl Cunningham". SIZE: (sight) 15-1/4"h x 34-3/4"w. PROVENANCE: Recently found in a New England home. CONDITION: The edges have small bites and tears.  The bottom edge the worst with several losses to the edge. 9-93106 (6,000-10,000)

        EARL CUNNINGHAM (American, 1893-1977) "MOCK UP NO 3 1949 ST AUGUSTINE FLA". Oil on paper laid on corrugated cardboard scene shows a stepped peninsula of land with three New England style houses, a green lawn with high grass at edges. Two tropical trees supporting three pelicans each. The upper tier of the peninsula has a connected white and red house with six triangular topped green trees and two other tropical style green trees. The sea in shades of yellow and gold, supporting two, three-masted schooners with blue sails in foreground and three white sailed ships beyond. A slight change to orange and pink, separates sky and sea. Signed lower left, "Earl Cunningham". Housed in a modern shadow-box type black frame with glass front and back Lucite window which shows the title in pencil. SIZE: (sight) 15"h x 35-1/2"w.         EARL CUNNINGHAM (American, 1893-1977)"MOCK UP 1956 ST AUGUSTINE FLA NO 4". Oil on paper laid on corrugated cardboard shows a harbor scene in evening or late afternoon. The scene shows three, three-masted ships with blue sails on a puce-covered water. The sun/moon is seen above the horizon casting light on the water. The red/yellow sky supporting seven birds. A green peninsula has four large triangle-topped trees and green grass covering. Three ships are seen on the horizon line. The foreground set with land having two lime colored houses with red roofs and large docks and the right side land having two trees, bird and spotted ground with two teeny ships beside. Signed lower left, "Earl Cunningham". Housed in a modern black shadow-box type frame with glass front and Lucite back showing title in pencil. SIZE: (sight) 15"h x 35-1/2"w.         EARL CUNNINGHAM (American, 1893-1977)"MOCK UP 1977 ST AUGUSTINE FLA". Oil on paper laid on corrugated cardboard harbor scene shows a large orange, yellow and red building at the end of a peninsula with three figures, two of which are fishing. A large black and red hulled three masted schooner is docked beside. A teeny sailboat sails next to it with three swimming ducks. The peninsula has several trees and large fern grass. An island is seen in an expansive yellow ocean with two ships on the horizon having white sails. An orange, red and yellow sky supports three red birds and five white birds. The island having four triangular-topped trees, each of which has one branch supporting a white bird. There are two large standing birds at edge of island. The right side with large white schooner with three masts and full sail, sails toward two triangular-topped trees with white birds, below which is a depiction of a small peninsula with house, trees, figure, dock, wagon and boat. Signed lower left, "Earl Cunningham, 1977, Mock Up". Housed in a modern black shadow-box type frame with glass front and Lucite back showing title in pencil and also "By Earl Cunningham".         EARL CUNNINGHAM (American, 1893-1977)"MOCK UP ST AUGUSTINE FLORIDA 1976". Oil on paper, laid on corrugated cardboard scene shows a shore lined village with five houses in various shades of white, red and gray on green grass under a solid tree line of tall green trees. Yellow sunlight shines through the trees and casts shadows from the buildings and trees. Two large docks are in center with four similar figures fishing with long white poles, black line and red bobbers. Three white-hulled schooners are seen on light green water against the grassy area. Three similar figures in wagons pulled by a single whimsical animal. The foreground has two large and two small Viking-type ships, all having a single person at rudder. Unsigned front but inscribed on back of cardboard with title and "by Earl Cunningham". Housed in a modern black shadow-box style frame with glass front and Lucite window which shows back. SIZE: (sight) 15"h x 35-1/4"w. PROVENANCE: Recently found in a New England home. CONDITION: There are several sections of the edge missing.  A half dollar sized hole in right side and a dime sized hole off left dock.  There are some other minor imperfections and some light foxing marks. 9-93101 (5,000-10,000)

Oil on paper laid on corrugated cardboard winter scene shows a snow-covered harbor with large water-powered mill having red and yellow buildings, twin docks with moored ships and two ships seen on a bluish-green sea. A sliver of land separates the water and is covered with palm style trees, covered in snow. Three small boats and ducks are beyond. Signed lower left, "Earl Cunningham" and housed in a modern black shadow box style frame with glass front and Lucite back showing title in pencil. SIZE: (sight) 16"h x 35-1/4"w.         EARL CUNNINGHAM (American, 1893-1977)"MOCK UP NO 6 1975". Oil on paper laid on corrugated cardboard scene shows a bright sunlit day with a rising sun over three points of land, one having a candy-cane colored light house with connected white and red building with chimney smoke. Rocks and brown trees surround the green peninsula. The second peninsula supports a connected blue and red building with dock and trees, having an edging of rocks. The third and largest peninsula with a "U" shaped inlet, has three large brown trees supporting two big white and red birds. The edge grass is in green, brown and red and there are three houses on the green grass. Four side-by-side three-masted schooners are seen in small inlet while four, four-masted schooners are seen in other inlet. A variety of ships and ducks are seen on a yellow, red and orange ocean while several birds fly in a similar colored sky. Unsigned front but pencil signed on reverse, "By Earl Cunningham". Housed in a modern shadow-box type frame with glass front and Lucite back showing pencil signature. SIZE: (sight) 15"h x 20"w. PROVENANCE: Recently found in a New England home.
