      Classical carved and figured mahogany work table, Michel Bouvier attributed to Michel Bouvier (1792-1874), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, circa 1815-1820, rectangular top, outset ring-turned corners inset with carved bone, over two graduated drawers, lyre pedestal, platform base, on saber legs with bone turnings and brass lion's-paw feet casters; H28 3/4" W20 1/4" D15 1/4" Provenance: South Carolina private collection Other Notes: Michel Bouvier (1792-1874), was a French cabinetmaker who immigrated to Philadelphia from Pont-Saint-Esprit, France after Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo. He opened a cabinet shop and crafted fine furniture for Philadelphia society including notable philanthropist and banker Stephen Girard.

Provenance: Lee Anderson, New York. Thought to have originally been part of the furnishings at Point Breeze, Bordentown, New Jersey, the home of Napoleon's brother, Joseph Bonaparte.

      Classical inlaid mahogany and bird's-eye maple work table attributed to michel bouvier (1792-1874), philadelphia, pennsylvania, 1810-1820 A rectangular top with outset ring-turned corners inset with ivory, above a case with two graduated drawers, the top drawer fitted with compartments, and a felted pull-out slide on the left, supported on a lyre pedestal on platform base with saber legs ornamented with ivory rondels ending in brass lion paw feet and casters; brass plaque engraved 'Presented to/ Trent Chapter/ D.A.R./ by/ Mary Scudder Jamieson/ Regent 1894.'. H: 28 3/4 in. W: 19 3/4 in. D: 15 1/4 in. PROVENANCE: Property of a Bucks County collector. NOTE: The Trent Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was founded January 29, 1895 in Trenton, New Jersey. Mrs. Mary Scudder Jamieson was the organizing regent.
