      PRESENTATION OF THE VIRGIN AT THE TEMPLE". Oil on canvas after a painting by Pasqualino Veneto. The original painting remains in the Sala dell ‘Albergo. This version depicts a young girl ascending the stairs of the temple towards a high ranking member of the clergy. The scene is being observed by onlookers. Housed in a simple half round molded frame. SIZE: overall 58 1/2" x 60 1/4". CONDITION: very good with original surface. One puncture upper center at edge of stretcher. (05-869/TG). $1,200-2,000.

      Large, unframed oil on canvas religious scene depicts Claudia Procula being consoled by an angel after her dream of suffering as she is descending a staircase from a bedroom lit by a floor oil lamp. Many figures are depicted in the scene including clergy, soldier and lay people. The heavens have opened and cast rays of light on a battle scene. The painting is after an engraving by Alphonse Francois (French, 1814-1888) titled "The Dream of Pilate's Wife". Signed lower left "S.R. Agnes Berchmans 1920".
