      Jozsef Bato, Mutter mit Kind innige Darstellung einer Mutter mit farbenfrohem Schultertuch, ihr Kind auf dem Schoß haltend, vor weiter gebirgiger Sommerlandschaft, pastose Malerei in kraftvoller Farbigkeit, Öl auf Leinwand, rechts mittig schwer lesbar signiert und datiert "Bató 1910", doubliert, retuschiert, gering restaurierungsbedürftig, gerahmt, Falzmaße ca. 80 x 64,5 cm. Künstlerinfo: auch József, Josef oder Joseph Bató, irrtümlich "Baté", ungarisch-jüdischer Maler, Bühnenbildner, Graphiker, Illustrator und Schriftsteller (1888 Budapest bis 1966 London), Abitur in Budapest, studierte an der Malschule Nagybánya und 1907–09 an der Ecole des Arts et Métiers Paris bei George Desvallieres und Henry Matisse, unterhielt lebenslange Freundschaft zu Henri Matisse und Albert Marquet, ab 1909 freischaffend in Budapest, beschickte 1909–13 den Salon d’Automne in Paris, ab 1912 tätig in Berlin-Halensee, ab 1912 Mitglied der Berliner Sezession, Teilnahme am 1. Weltkrieg als Kriegsmaler und Leutnant der Reserve der Kunstgruppe des k.u.k. Kriegspressequartiers, anschließend Rückkehr nach Berlin, unternahm Studienreisen nach Frankreich, Dänemark und auf den Balkan, Mitglied der Freien Secession Berlin, unterhielt Freundschaft zu Eugene Spiro und verkehrte im Kreise der ungarischen Künstlercommunity in Berlin mit Alexander Gergely, Róbert Berény und Béla Kádár, 1936 Jurymitglied der Reichsausstellung Jüdischer Künstler im Jüdischen Museum Berlin, Mitglied des Verbands bildender Künstler Berlins, des Reichsverbandes Bildender Künstler Deutschlands und des Deutschen Künstlerbundes Weimar, emigrierte 1936 nach England, hier als künstlerischer Leiter und Ausstattungsleiter sowie Kostümbildner und schließlich bis 1945 Art Director bei London Film Productions tätig, anschließend als Maler und Schriftsteller in London freischaffend, Quelle: Vollmer, AKL, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Dressler, Bénézit, Müller-Singer und Wikipedia.
