      THE FOLLOWING EARLY FISHING ITEMS WERE THE PROPERTY OF MORTON ALLPORT (1830 - 1878). HE WAS A SOLICITOR AND A LEADING FIGURE IN BRINGING THE FIRST SALMON TO TASMANIA. FURTHER INFORMATION ON MORTON ALLPORT IS TO BE FOUND IN THE AUSTRALIAN DICTIONARY OF BIOGRAPHY. THEY HAVE PASSED DOWN THROUGH THE FAMILY UNTIL LOANED TO THE FISHING MUSEUM AT PLENTY WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN ON DISPLAY FOR MANY YEARS. AT THE REQUEST OF THE OWNER THEY WERE DEACCESSIONED FROM THE MUSEUM AND ARE NOW OFFERED FOR SALE.
