THE FOLLOWING EARLY FISHING ITEMS WERE THE PROPERTY OF MORTON ALLPORT (1830 - 1878). HE WAS A SOLICITOR AND A LEADING FIGURE IN BRINGING THE FIRST SALMON TO TASMANIA. FURTHER INFORMATION ON MORTON ALLPORT IS TO BE FOUND IN THE AUSTRALIAN DICTIONARY OF BIOGRAPHY. THEY HAVE PASSED DOWN THROUGH THE FAMILY UNTIL LOANED TO THE FISHING MUSEUM AT PLENTY WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN ON DISPLAY FOR MANY YEARS. AT THE REQUEST OF THE OWNER THEY WERE DEACCESSIONED FROM THE MUSEUM AND ARE NOW OFFERED FOR SALE. - VICTORIAN CANE RODS ONE MARKED ON BUTT 'CHAS FARLOW 191 STRAND LONDON PRIZE MEDAL 1862. SECOND ROD COMPLETE WITH UNUSUAL LEATHER GRIP. BOTH WITH ORIGINAL BRASS REELS. LEATHER FLY WALLET TO MATCH ROD ALSO BY 'FARLOW STRAND LONDON' TASMANIAN LICENCE TO FISH FOR TROUT DATED 1872.
