Brauner Halblederband der Zeit mit goldgeprägtem Rückenschild sowie gold- und blindgeprägter Rückenverzierung, Deckel mit goldgeprägten Fileten sowie Vignette (beschabt, bestoßen und etwas fleckig, vorderes Gelenk partiell aufgeplatzt, Leinenbezug teilweise erneuert).Erste Ausgabe. - Lowndes 30 - Blackmer 25 - Brunet I, 188. - Der Folioband zeigt zwei schöne Gesamtansichten von Triest und Pola, die übrigen Tafeln geben u.a. Tempelanlagen und ein Amphitheater wider. Die erste Vignette zeigt eine pittoreske Ansicht der Akropolis in Athen, die meisten anderen geben Architekturdetails wider. - "The journey to Pola, the only maritime town of Istria to retain its ancient buildings, was made via Trieste while he was travelling with the Stanhopes" (Blackmer). - Innendeckel mit Exlibris, Titel, 1 Textblatt und alle Tafeln rückseitig mit Bibliotheksstempel. - Vorderes Innengelenk angeplatzt, Vorsatz minimal leimschattig und mit kleinem Eckabriss, einige Seiten etwas stockfleckig.

Pagine [1], con 1 frontespizio inciso e 41 tavole numerate 1-41 inicise per la maggior parte da Pinelli. Tracce di foxing sparso, in qualche parte più accentuato, ma nel complesso 2 opere molto belle. Legatura in tutta pelle coeva con impressioni in oro. Ex libris Blackmer e Wakefield. Prima edizione. Blackmer 25: «Allason, an architect, travelled in Greece, 1814-15, as draughtsman to John and Edward Spencer Stanhope, and he produced the drawings for their works on Plataea, Olympia and Elis. Allason claimed to be the first to observe the entasis of Greek columns.The journey to Pola, the only maritime town of Istria to retain its ancient buildings, was made via Trieste w hile he was travelling with the Stanhopes. Allison dedicated his work to the Society of Dilettanti, which had long been interested in Pola and had wanted to erect a building of its own in Piccadilly modeled on the temple at Pola.
