Thomas Allason (1790-1852), an architect, travelled to Greece in 1814 as draughtsman to John and Edward Spencer Stanhope. He made the drawings for this publication, dedicated to the Society of Dilettanti, with the intention of improving on the previous account on Pola's antiquities illustrated by Stuart and Revett.
