Winchester Rifles

Winchester is an American rifle institution. The Winchester rifle is among the most famed rifles of the Old West, known as the one that revolutionized the repeating rifle. While Winchester they did not invent the lever action, many would say they perfected it.

Starting with the Model 1866, also known as the yellow boy, Winchester began producing, improving, and designing lever-action repeating rifles. They produced an improved model in 1873 that became extremely popular, and the line continued with improvements occurring in every generation.

Winchester produced a variety of rifles outside of their lever-action designs. The Model 1954 was a popular bolt-action rifle that later concluded with the Winchester Model 70. The Winchester Model 70 is considered one of the best bolt-action hunting rifles on the market. Winchester produced both centerfire and rimfire rifles that were moderately successful. The Winchester rifle series is still popular, especially their lever actions and the famed Model 70.
