Mauser Military Rifles

Peter and Wilhelm Mauser come from a legacy of gunsmiths. They continued their father’s trade into both military service and private industry. Peter Mauser developed a turn-bolt mechanism that cocked the weapon as it was turned. This design became a conversion, but was not adopted officially by any army. The Mauser Model 1871 was the Mauser brothers' first rifle and their first rifle to be adopted by an army. The German Empire adopted the Mauser and called it the Gewehr 71, or the Infanterie-Gewehr 71.

The German Empire's adoption of the Mauser Model 1871 started a long tradition of fine German Mauser rifles. They quickly became a worldwide standard for quality bolt-action firearms and produced rifles worldwide. In the beginning of the 20th century, this influenced the naming of rifles like 89 Belgian and the 91 Argentine, rifles with a similar action but different layouts for different countries.

Mauser's tradition of worldwide excellence in firearms continues. Today, we have the Spanish Mauser, Serbian Mauser, Ottoman variant, and more. The most famed rifle was the Nazi k98 Mauser for sale on Invaluable. This German Mauser rifle was mass produced for use in World War II. German Mauser rifles are good examples of world renowned German engineering.
