Ziona Tajar, the first woman artist born in the modern land of Israel came from one of the first 60 founding families of the city of Tel Aviv , two facts inherent to Tajar's work. Her paintings combine the unique qualities of artistic modernism and sophistication with the naive ideology, warmth and optimism of the pre-state days.

In the present lot, Tajar uses bold loose brushstrokes and intersecting planes to capture the spirit and tone of this arresting landscape.
