款識：
（一）大富貴，好培植，苦瓜僧法。
（二）花之君子者也，撝叔戲作。
（三）雲門悔遲隱逸圖，背臨於平沙綠浪盦中。
（四）嘯篁仁兄明府大人法鑒，會稽趙之謙。

鈐印：之謙印信、趙撝叔、趙叔子、趙之謙印

上款：「嘯篁」即王齡，原名錫齡，字九亭，號嘯篁，齋名小竹里館。浙江蕭山人。出版家。喜詩文、嗜收藏、好結交文人雅士，與同里任熊、丁文蔚皆友善。道光二十四年（1844）出版有《小竹里館藏帖》四卷，任熊版畫《於越先賢像傳贊》、《高士傳》、《劍俠傳》皆為王齡出資出版。撝叔與嘯篁交遊暫未可考，然撝叔與丁文蔚為結義兄弟，趙、王二人識於丁氏大碧山房，亦是情理之中了。

註：趙之謙詩書畫印皆能，畫尤以花卉最為世所重。因半百即歿，故畫跡傳世數量有限，而近四尺全開之四屏，如本幅者，更屬稀見。
四幀分繪牡丹、荷花、秋菊與紅梅四種，一云擬「苦瓜僧法」，一云參「云門悔遲」，既取法前人，又參合己貌，線條爽利蒼勁，構圖別具生趣。論者以撝叔作設色花木，「渾厚奇古，得金石之氣」，又云「前無徐青藤之野，後無吳昌碩之獷，卓然大家，品居字上」，實公允之論也。
