Description

This spectacular originally hand-colored lithograph is from Francesco Zanotto's Das malerische, monumentale, historische und artistische Venedig. This uncommon work was published in Venice by Johann Brizeghel between 1857 and 1859.

The work features beautiful views of Venice and its islands, interiors and exteriors, and Venetian costumes. The views and festival plates in the work were done by Marco Moro. The costume plates were done by Josef Rebellato. The lithographs are highly artistic and the coloring quite exceptional in watercolor and gouache with some gum arabic and gold paint.
