Zachary Taylor: Scarce partly printed DS as President, signed "Z. Taylor," one page, 10.75 x 8, July 21, 1849. President Taylor appoints Nathaniel P. Prickett "a Midshipman in the United States Navy." Signed at the bottom in black ink by Taylor and countersigned by Secretary of the Navy William Ballard Preston. Prickett would die less than a year later. In fine condition, with intersecting folds (one through a single letter of signature) and light wrinkling. A clean and fresh example from this president who occupied the White House for little over a year before dying in office!
