This remarkable artist’s book utilizes over 500 blocks, hand printed with watercolor ink by the famed Rongbaozhai studio, in depicting the floating weeds-his word for the people displaced by the decade long construction of the Three Gorges Dam-along the Yangtze. In a style adapted from classical Chinese landscape painting, the artist employs elements of fantasy and folk legends contrasted with the stark reality of the displacement to create a moving portrait of modern China.
