Signed: 梅逸 Baiitsu Stamped: 梅華堂印 Bai Ka Do In Kakemono, paint on silk. Japan, 19th century
Pretty pair of scrolls. Tasteful brocade mount bearing the characters and symbols for "fortune and longevity". Brocade frame; roller made of ivory. Baiitsu was an important Nanga painter of the late Edo period, who lived in Kyoto and subsequently in Nagoya. He is a master in landscapes, as well as kacho-e (depictions of flowers and birds).
