Stanislas II Augustus Poniatowski (1732-1798), King of Poland 1764-1795, in fur-bordered blue robe, frilled shirt, seated at a desk, his right hand on an hour glass next to a crown, his left on a document inscribed 'Qua sivit Coelo /Lucem' on the desk engraved 'Stanislaus Augustus Rex Po.. M. Dux Lith. MDCCLXXXXIIII', globe, red curtain and sky background
signed with initials and dated 'W. L 1798' (lower left)
on ivory
rectangular, 4¼ x 3½ in. (105 x 88 mm.), ormolu frame with coronet and cypher surmount
the reverse of the frame is stamped 36.
