Notes

Willy James was a Swiss-born painter, whose scenes of Parisian street life capture the city's beauty and liveliness in a style reminiscent of L. S. Lowry. James was clearly inspired by the city: delight in his surroundings shines forth from his snow scenes of Montmartre and in his use of the bright hues of Paris springtime.
