Description

William Vincent Cahill (American, 1878-1924) "Couple Resting After a Day's Work", oil on canvas, signed "Wm Cahill" lower left, 30-1/8" x 25". Unframed. William Vincent Cahill studied at the Art Students League in New York, and in Boston with Edmund Trasbell and Frank Benson, developing an Impressionistic style. In 1914, he moved with his wife to California where they founded the School of Illustration and Painting, and subsequently, after selling it, taught in many Southern California institutions. Among many group and solo exhibitions, in 1915, Cahill exhibited at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. His work is in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum and Orange County Museum.
