WILLIAM PIERCE STUBBS (American, 1842-1909) BLACK HULLED SCHOONER.Oil on canvas ship portrait shows the schooner sailing right to left in heavy seas. The name appears to be the "Eugene Hale". Half of the sails are up and several people are on deck. Signed lower left "W.P.S.". Housed in its original leaf decorated deep gesso gilt frame. SIZE: 20" x 30". PROVENANCE: Rankin Estate, Annapolis, Maryland. CONDITION: One patch to back of original canvas, surface dirt, good. 9-29663
