Description

WILLIAM MOUAT LOUDAN (British 1868 - 1925) The Lonely Roses Note: Mouat Loudan studied at the Royal Academy Schools, where he won a gold medal and travelling studentship. He also studied in Paris under William-Adolph Bouguereau. He exhibited in London from 1883 at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Grosvenor Gallery, New Gallery, Society of British Artists, New English Art Club, Beaux-Arts Gallery, Baillie Gallery and International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers. He was a medal winner at the Chicago World Fair in 1893 and was selected to exhibit at the Venice Biennale 1895, 1903, 1905 & 1907. He also exhibited at the Royal Society of Artists in Birmingham, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and Manchester City Art Gallery. Had a studio at Primrose Hill Studio's (London) along with JW Waterhouse, Maurice Greiffenhagen, William Logsdail and George Denholm Elliot and taught at Westminster School of Art. Loudan's work is represented in numerous Musem and Gallery collections.
