William Llewellyn Hoey (American/Texas, 1930-1994), "Fish on the Beach", oil on canvas, signed lower right, "DuBose Gallery, Houston, Texas" label en verso, 10 in. x 12 in., framed Note: Known as a painter of "Magic Realism" of the southwest, William Hoey was born in Abilene and earned a Master's Degree in Art from The University of Texas in Austin. As an educator, Hoey taught and then became dean of the Houston Museum of Fine Art's Glassel School. He then joined the faculty of his alma mater at The University of Texas in 1978. An acclaimed regional artist, he also owned two art galleries in Austin.
