PROVENANCE
One of two paintings commissioned from Irving in
1926 by the Rev. Thomas Wilson, Proprietor and
Headmaster of Smarts Colleges, Newcastle upon
Tyne, which were hung in Coxlodge Hall (formerly
the home of Sir Roland Hodge), which at that time
was the location of one of Smarts Colleges
Schools. By a family tradition the lamb in the
foreground represents Rev. Thomas Wilson and
the horned sheep Mrs. Frances Wilson. This lot
is sold by direct of a descendant of Rev. Wilson.
