William Hunt completed his MA studies at Goldsmiths College, London in 2005. Since graduating, Hunt has garnered critical attention for his performances in which he combines music with acts of physical duress. Hunt's work can be located within the art historical traditions of sculpture and performance art, but equally draws its inspiration from popular culture and the entertainment industry. Recent solo shows include: Even as You See Me Now, Rotwand, Zürich (2008); Put Your Foot Down, Art Basel 38, Basel (2007); and Put Your Foot Down, IBID PROJECTS, London (2006). In 2008 Witte de With presented his solo exhibition William Hunt, Tempting Fate By Swimming Alone and in 2006, Hunt's work was shown at Witte de With as part of the group exhibition Don Quijote. Other group shows include Mind The Gap, Kunsthaus Glarus, Glarus (2008); Been Up So Long It Looks Like Down to Me, Presentation House, Vancouver (2007); Silence: Listen to the Show, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin (2007); KölnShow 2, Cologne (2007); and in Long Shore Drift, The Whitstable Biennial, Canterbury (2006).
