Notes

William Dixon was a friend and contemporary of John Linnell (see D. Linnell, Blake, Palmer, Linnell & Co, Lewes, 1994, pp 151-2).
After hearing of Billy's death, Linnell purchased a number of his sketches and studies from nature which remained in Linnell's studio at his death and have frequently been miscatalogued as the work of Linnell, for example Coast Scene at Cullercoats, near Whitley Bay, Yale Center for British Art, Paul Mellon Collection, no. 1404.

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis
