Condition Note: Not lined. Canvas has been cut down at the lower edge; pigment separation in the dark background around the figure and some on the vest; pigment has creased on face and neck, possibly due to canvas shrinking. Under UV light: the signature has been added over the old varnish; it appears to float but it is not fluorescing. The signature's color under UV is dark brown and not purple. The signature has been tested by an outside conservator and is apparently old. There are a few small areas of paint loss along the egdes from frame abrasion.
