NOTE

William Birnie Rhind was born in Edinburgh into a family of sculptors. He began his training under his father John Rhind and later set up studio with his brother J Massey Rhind. Amongst the monuments he made for his home country the most notable are his Boer War memorials in Edinburgh. Rhind exhibited regularly at the Royal Scottish Academy from 1878-1934 and was elected an RSA in 1905.
