[ Watercolours ] "Attributed to Bartram Hiles, (1872-1927), 'An old timbered tavern', body colour and wash, 27in. x 23in. "Footnote: Bartram Hiles was born in Bristol. At the age of eight, he suffered a tragic tram car accident which resulted in the amputation of both his arms. Despite this handicap, he was able to learn to draw with his mouth and attended art classes at the Merchant Venturers Technical College in Bristol and later won a scholarship to the National Art Training School. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Society of British Artists.
