12-inch dial with cherub and crown spandrels, linked by foliate engraving, signed J Benson, London, matted centre with seconds dial and calendar aperture, ring-turned winding holes, the added arch with a silvered boss engraved with a mask, the five pillar movement with outside count wheel striking on a bell, the associated continental case with domed cresting and moulded cornice, panels of fretwork and turned hood columns, the broken-arch trunk door inset with a lenticle and inlaid with panels of finely drawn foliate marquetry, inlaid canted corners, the sides divided into panels, the conforming plinth with a moulded ebonised base and bun feet
