VREDEMAN DE VRIES, Hans (1527 - circa 1606) after, by Jan van DOETECUM (active 1554-ca. 1600) and Lucas van DOETECUM (died before 1584). Architectura 3e Stuck Tuschana (Berlin Kat. 2218; New Hollstein 442-453) the complete set of 12 etchings, before 1576, very good impressions, watermark Post Horn, published by Volcxken Dierix, Antwerp, 1578, with margins; as often bound with 14 plates from Den Ersten Boeck, (New Holl. 183-186, 189-192, 195-200) and 20 plates from Das Ander Buech (New Holl. 201-207, 209, 211-222), by and after the same hands, presumably early re-issues of the First Edition of 1565, published by H. Cock; all in modern quarter calf binding. Plates: 9¼ x 11½ in. (235 x 295 mm.) (and similar) Sheets: 10 x 13½ in. (255 x 345 mm.) Provenance: Acquired from Lowry, 1975. The publisher of this book, Volcxken Dierix, was the widow of Hieronymus Cock.
