"Pina". 1967/printed 2002. Gelatin silver print on Kentmere paper. 36,5 x 26,5 cm (40,5 x 31 cm). Signed, titled and dated by the photographer in ink below the image in the margin; annotated and signed by the photographer in felt-tip pen on the verso.
The dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch (1940 - 2009) had a powerful influence in the modern dance world and in 1972 she became the artistic director of the Wuppertal Opera Ballet which was later named Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. Walter Vogel made many portraits of her and their close friendship is reflected in many of their collaborative images. - Corners slightly bumped, otherwise a rich tonal print in near excellent condition.
