VLADIMIR SHINKAREV (RUSSIAN B1954), "First Snow," 1994-95, oil on canvas, 60 x 80 cm (23 5/8 x 31 1/2 in.), signed with initials lower right; signed, titled, and dated on the reverse; dedicated by the artist on the reverse to the poet Konstantin Konstantinovich Kuzminsky (KKK). A nearly identical composition by the artist is illustrated in the above monograph on page 71 as figure 68, "The First Snow," 1995, oil on canvas, 60 x 80 cm. Vladimir Shinkarev was a founder of the "Mitki" art group movement of St. Petersburg, the name of which originated from Shinkarev's literary work of the same name.
