Condition Report

Original canvas. The varnish has discoloured and there is a layer of surface dirt. There is a small hole in the top right hand quadrant of the composition and fine craquelure throughout. The work would benefit from a surface clean by a professional restorer. UV light reveals an opaque layer of uneven varnish and the suggestion of several areas of old retouching to the sky and in places elsewhere. Held in a gold painted frame with plaster mouldings. Unexamined out of frame.
