A pupil of Ferdinando and Francesco Galli Bibiena and a member of the Accademia Clementina, Mazzi was mostly active in Bologna. Apart from some religious paintings and designs for architecture and prints, he mainly produced stage set designs. In 1776 he published his Caprici di scene teatrale, a set of twelve plates.
