Description

Photo, Document, and Art Archive from noted WPA and Cape Cod Artist Vernon B. Smith. Includes Orleans Parish Church Bulletins & Programs, Church Interior Photos, and a detailed letter about the metal work and craft programs at the Church. Several Newspaper Articles about Alaska Painters and WPA Artists, Several Exhibition Catalogs and Postcards, and an extensive type-written (copied) series of letters sent home by Vernon Smith During WWI. This group also includes an Oil on Board still life painting Signed Vernon B Smith 1920 (18" x 14") and a pencil signed ink/watercolor painting framed under glass (16" x 13"). Condition is overall good with letters, papers, and photos in good condition, The oil painting is edge tattered and needs cleaning, the watercolor is excellent. Vernon B. Smith was a Cape Cod Massachusetts Artist and WPA Administrator known for his Bas Relief woodcarvings, Oil Paintings, Watercolors, and Batik Fabrics. He also worked in metal and created miniatures. The works in the auction are directly from members of his family.

Our normal business hours are 12-5 Monday through Friday. Nest Egg Auctions does not offer storage and all winning items must be removed, shipped or delivered within 14 days of auction date. Any lots that left longer than 14 days may be forfeit unless prior arrangements are made in writing. If your item will be picked up by outside courier or alternate shipper, please let us know.

State of Connecticut 6.35% sales tax applies unless valid reseller certificate is on file with Nest Egg Auctions. Out of state buyers who choose to ship items out of state are not charged CT sales Tax.

Payment is due within 5 days of auction sale date. Nest Egg Auctions accepts payment by cash, check, wire transfer, and all forms of credit cards. The fastest method of payment is by credit card through our online payment portal. We do not accept payment by credit card over the phone. Invoices are sent by e-mail within two business days after the auction. Please note that first time and out-of-state checks require clearance prior to the release of merchandise. Additionally, high value precious metals, coins, and diamond purchases may require additional clearance time regardless of payment method. Please note that large international transactions (over $1,000 US) must be paid by wire transfer.
