VERHEUL, Johannes Dzn. (1860-1948). 'Programma v.d. feestavond ter herdenking v.h. 25-j. bestaan der Vereeniging Bouwkunst en Vriendschap te Rotterdam. 1885-1910.' Hand drawn design for a front cover of a programme booklet, black ink on thick white paper. 300 x 200 mm. Beautifully executed hand drawn letters and decorative borders with floral ornamentation by the Rotterdam architect Johannes Verheul. The 'Vereeniging Bouwkunst en Vriendschap' of which Verheul became vice-president was founded in 1885 by a group of architects. Verheul designed and built some 80 buildings - many in art nouveau style - in the Rotterdam area, many of which were destroyed during the Rotterdam blitz. A printed version of the programme booklet could not be traced in the NCC.
