As one of the leading female figures in Iranian art history, Parvaneh Etemadi experiments with and adapts new aspects to her technique in the hope of creating paintings which have a life of their own. Beginning her career as an abstract painter, she harmonised new worlds onto her canvases which she encouraged viewers to project onto with their own imagination and mastered the style of still-life painting on cement. The artist's attention to detail and fascination with colour have culminated to create a peaceful scene that is filled with symbolic references and plays with her sense of time and space. With very few lines and colours, Etemadi reveals a sense of melancholy and timelessness that have become her signature. Parvaneh Etemadi's works are featured in major private and public institutions including the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and MAXXI in Rome.
