Description

Standing nude with petticoat Stereoscopic daguerreotype. Early 1850s. Hand-tinted. Arched top, paper passe-partout. LITERATURE See: Nazarieff, Early Erotic Photography, pl. 198, for another image with similar studio setting. NOTES Born in Paris in 1810, Richebourg came to be one of the early professionals in photography having learned it through his contact with the optician Vincent Chevalier and Daguerre as a private student. In 1841, he opened his own studio at 69 Quai de l'Horloge and in 1851, the house number changed to 29. He had an extremely varied career ranging from portraiture and recording of special events to nude photography.
