Description

plain tapered sides and slightly rounded bases, each marked on base with silhouette mark and numbered 452 Porter Blanchard (1886-1973) was the son of Boston Silversmiith George Porter Blanchard. By 1914 he was a member of the Society of Arts and Crafts in Boston, and in 1916 he joined the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts. He moved to California for his health in 1923, and settling in Burbank the following year he helped organize the Arts and Crafts Society of Southern California, serving as its first president. In 1933 he opened a shop at 6605 Sunset Boulevard, to cater to a movie clientele. In 1944 he was elected a medalist of the Boston Society of Arts and Crafts.
