Jefferson Wright attribution, Kentucky, 1798-1846, seated half-portrait of Lydia and Mason (nee Smith) of Boyle County, Kentucky, and later Walker County, Texas, unsigned oil on canvas, she with red hair and wearing pendant pearl earrings, pearl necklace with attached watch, two patches verso for three small tears, one at neck and two at hands, grime, canvas loose, crackle, paint chips middle right side, minor retouch, tear in top at hair and comb, creases upper left corner, 27-1/8 x 22", he seated half-portrait of James F. Mason, wearing formal coat, white collar and black cravat, holding gloves, unsigned oil on canvas, laid down on Masonite, approximately 10 percent retouch mostly in background, some at side of face and chin, 20-3/4 x 25", matching 19th century faux burl painted frames with gilt liners, some abrasions, descended in family of consignor
