TWO JADE 'TORTOISE' CARVINGS

The 'mythical tortoise' with a pair of antlers behind the head, perforated through the cheeks for stringing, the back slightly concave, the celadon stone with brown and cream alteration to one side; the plump tortoise naturalistically carved with its head raised, the stone mottled brown and cream in areas. Mystical tortoise: 2 3/16in (5.6cm) long;
Tortoise: 2 5/8in (6.8cm) long

Minor surface pitting and wear. Stones altered to induce colors and textures for the appearance of antiquity. Shallow crack lines to the plump tortoise, possibly from heating the stone to alter the color.
