Lot 644: Triptych by Robert Reid, Mixed Media on Handmade paper

Robert Reid (American, 1924-2002), titled Bussy Le Grand and signed l.l., dated 1991 l.r.; 29.5 x 21.5 in. Reid, a native of Atlanta GA, was an African-American artist trained at Clark College, the Art Institute of Design and Parson School of Design in the 1940s. He worked as an educator in the Northeast at the Summit Art Center and the Rhode Island School of Design in the 1970s. During the 1960s and 1970s, Reid exhibited his work and now many of his examples are owned by institutions such as the Newark Museum and Drew University.
