THE PROPERTY OF A PRIVATE COLLECTOR


Van Blarenberghe was from a family of artists best known for their work in miniature. Henri-Joseph also painted many landscape compositions, and these are typical of his style with their inclusion of winding paths and rivers. This pair probably dates from later in van Blarenberghe's career as his more mature works have fewer figures, with greater emphasis on the landscape itself.
