Condition Report

The canvas has a firm relining and a clear and even varnish. The paint surface is stable with no major visible damages and the painting appears to be in good overall condition. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals two campaigns of restoration, the older campaign consists of minor scattered retouchings and strengthenings throughout. The second more recent campaign consists of only a few patches of retouching in the dark tones of the ladies hair, and in the line of her hair beneath her headscarf. There are also some more recent strengthenings in the background along the side of her face, and some in her flesh tones, mostly to minimalise the effect of some craquelure. These retouchings appear to be of a predominantly cosmetic nature, and much of the impasto in the brocade of her dress, in the foliage of the background, and in the details of her headscarf remain well preserved.
"In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above.
