Condition Report

Both canvases have been relined. Both are covered by a yellowed varnish. There are delicate areas of the impasto intact, whereas other areas such as the foliage have suffered some light wear. Overall, the condition of the paint surface beneath dirt appears to be good. Inspection under ultraviolet light shows in the former small retouchings in the foliage and a thick milky old varnish. There are very old and thus faint retouchings scattered elsewhere. Inspection under UV light reveals in the latter a knock in the paint surface situated in the centre of the rock formation on the right. The pair are offered in matching carved gilt wooden frames with a few tiny knocks.
