Theodore Roosevelt Portrait by Seymour Stone (American, 1877-1957),: an oil on canvas portrait of Theodore Roosevelt wearing pince-nez eyeglasses, signed and dated by Seymour M. Stone, NY, Oct. 1921; 12.5" x 15.5", framed, 17.5" x 21".

Seymour Stone was born in Poland in 1877, but he went on to live and work in New York until his death in 1957. Stone was known for his portraiture, as well as his figural and zoological paintings. He studied under Jules Joseph Lefebvre at the Academie Julian, and he also attended the Art Students League of New York and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Stone's work was displayed at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Corcoran Gallery, Washington, D.C., and the Fort Worth Art Association, among other places.
