with David M. Koester Gallery, New York, from whom acquired in 1952 by the North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh, North Carolina (no. 52.9.155), deacessioned by the museum; Sotheby's, New York, 28 January 1999, lot 201.

George William Fox, 9th Baron Kinnaird, was Master of the Buckhounds between 1839 and 1841; Lord Lieutenant of Perth; and was created Baron Rossie, of Rossie, Perth in June 1831, and Baron Kinnaird, of Rossie, Perth, in September 1860.
