Glossary of Conditions
Mint - no foxing, tears, or dings in the paper
Fine - slight blemishes and aging
Good to Fine - Some blemishes possible foxing, possible dings, possible restoration
Good - Blemishes, foxing, slight nics, possible pinholes, possible repairs
Posters can be rolled and folded - UK Posters invariably came rolled but were folded by the projectionist and filed away in case a re-release or re-showing occurred; thus the cinema didn't have to purchase new posters. US Posters were factory folded up until 1982 - few samples of posters prior to this year were supplied rolled unless the heavy stock poster (Inserts, Window Cards, Half Sheets, 30x40 and 60x40).
Linen backing is done for a reason - often to restore the paper - if a poster has tears or is in pieces pasting onto Japanese Rice Paper and then onto linen restores the shape of the paper and enables the folds to be flattened out. The poster can be in fine condition yet folded and for the purposes of framing would require linen backing for aesthetic purposes.
