Inscribed presentation copy, signed by the author/illustrator on the front flyleaf "To Mrs. Helen Crane with kind regards of her friend, Ernest Thompson Seton, May 30, 1945." The signature has Seton's paw-print mark, plus there is an original drawing of a bear's face titled in ink "Johnny Bear."

Jacket worn and separated into three sections, lacks most of spine, small chips and tears to edges; volume clean and bright with only minor wear; an about fine copy in a fair jacket.
