Provenance: Elcho Island Arts & Crafts Bandigan Art Private Collection, NSW Sold with original gallery documentation Used within the sacred shelter during Warramirri tribal ceremonies, this sculpture represents the internal structure of the dead whale. The artist paints his body pink for this ceremony to denote his status in relation to the whale. At one end is the tail of the whale and at the other, the tail of a wild fowl. The artist would impart no further details, as this is a highly sacred ceremony.
